Untitled Painting Series, acrylic on canvas

In 2013, I was accepted into the MFA program here at SVA. During the first week of the semester, I was on my way to go to class. I was crossing the street to get a bus. I saw the black car, which suddenly came in front of me. I thought this car might hit me and unfortunately it did. I was placed on an ambulance stretcher, and went to the emergency room. The doctor looked very grave as he saw me and asked to take an MRI. The diagnosis was changed to a rupture of the left knee and tear of the ACL, a herniated disk and a swollen shoulder muscle. The doctor recommended that I take a break for three weeks.

The first few days of convalescence I was relieved, but happiness did not last very long. I spent most of the time in bed. I was getting exhausted and depressed. I thought I had to do something. So I bought a small canvas on the Internet and put a tea table on the bed and started to paint as I recalled the color theory painting class. I just painted and I realized that I just love painting with primary color and I found psychotherapy with color really worked for me. I was getting relief so I decided to keep working on these paintings to treat myself.
